Why feed medicated grit?

• Quartz grit in the gizzard aids the digestion of heather shoots, which makes up approx. 80% of the fibrous diet of a grouse
• Medicated grit targets a parasitic threadworm that lives in the gut of red grouse, Trichostrongylus tenuis. A disease more commonly known as Strongylosis or Strongyle worm.
• Owens Nutrition medicated grit contains Flubendazole which targets all stages of the worm’s life cycle.
• Medicated grit reduces worm burdens in grouse, improves body condition and increases chick survival rates, thus increasing grouse productivity

User guide:

• A veterinary prescription is required to buy medicated grit
• All medicated grit must be removed 28 days before grouse are harvested and consumed.
• Plain grit can be put out to replace medicated grit so the grouse can continue to benefit
